Workshop - Story telling

  • Story telling performance and workshops offer a powerful, engaging learning experience
Storytelling performance

There can hardly be a more vibrant, complementary educational experience than a live storytelling performance in school.

Storytelling connects directly with the emotions and imaginations of children, giving them a vivid example of the expressive power of language. Storytelling performance lets children from Reception through to KS4:

•Enjoy a vibrant, positive experience of spoken language – vital for developing oracy and literacy

•Exercise cross-curricular skills such as listening, concentration and comprehension

•Experience rich imaginative engagement with themes and issues from all areas of the curriculum, including those associated with PSHE and SEAL
Storytelling makes learning in any subject area vibrant and pleasurable communicating information so that it is meaningful, relevant and memorable to your pupils.
Storytelling workshops
Storytelling workshops provide a dynamic, creative learning opportunity that lets children discover their own unique potential as storytellers. Workshops begin with a vibrant example of storytelling in performance and then provide an experience
of creative and investigative play that lets children develop:
Functional skills of communication and presentation

•Individual creativity, confidence and sense of personal voice

•The motivation and inspiration for creative writing work
Storytelling workshops can be enjoyed as a one-off learning event but work best when delivered as a programme of six sessions or more.
Storytelling workshops are all about personal empowerment through communication - great for any pupil and fantastic for:

•Addressing pupils’ underperformance and disengagement from learning

•Providing a unique confidence- and team-building experience to children preparing for Year 6 transition
